Started with a full audit of query patterns, indexes, and architecture decisions. Found N+1 query patterns, missing indexes, and synchronous processing where async was needed.
Redesigned the data access layer with proper ORM usage, database-level query optimization, Redis caching for hot paths, and a job queue for heavy async operations.
